Mausolé des Jules
This memorial dating back to about 20 or 30 years BC was erected by the Julii, a leading family of the indigenous élite, in honour of their father and their grandfather. It is exceptionally well preserved and its singular structure makes it unique among the Roman edifices that we currently know of. It features a rectangular base with four magnificently sculpted sides, topped by a triumphal arch with four bays. On top of this structure sits a small round temple with columns and a conical roof, sheltering statues of the two men this exceptional monument is dedicated to.
